I finished my final detailed mapping this morning. I put together this waypoint map so you can see my general intended route.
If you live anywhere along this route and want to let me crash or camp in your backyard, let me steal some water, have a coffee or an ice cream or a beer with me, give me a hug, exchange stories, ride a little ways with me, or share any other enjoyable activity, please let me know. I would love to see a friendly face, even if it’s just for a little while. If you’re reading this and questioning whether or not we’re good enough friends for you to contact me, contact me. I probably want to see you.
And if you know any remarkable people I should stop and meet (your family, friends, other non-enemies), let me know as well. I want to meet as many cool cats as I can.
A long time comin’
I’ve been itching for an adventure of this proportion for a long time now. I made excuses, postponed, overthought, gave up, and ultimately ended up spending a lot of time doing the very thing I swear against doing: nothing. I’ve wasted way too much time, and I won’t get it back. I may not know what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I do know what I want to do now. I want to adventure.
I decided I wanted to ride the coast a little over a month ago. I remembered a few years back when I met some guys who rode the Pacific Coast to promote their business. I remember listening to their stories and thinking what a crazy adventure it would be to ride that far with 4-5 other guys. So I’m going solo.
I don’t know how far I will get or how fast I will go or what obstacles lie ahead. All I know is I’m going to have some fun, spread some love, and ride south.
